Thanksgiving Dinner PIN-spiration

I totally have Christmas on the brain, but I am trying to not get ahead of myself and totally forget about Thanksgiving. I love this holiday. I love thinking about al that I am thankful for and why we celebrate it. The food isn't that bad either!

This year we will be staying home and going to my in-laws for Thanksgiving dinner. Originally my parents were going to come to town but things have changed and they are unable to come now. I have never cooked a thanksgiving meal before. I am glad that I don't have to do it this year, it just seems super overwhelming and a lot of pressure. I however, will help my MIL with the meal any way that I  can.

It seems like lately whenever I need a recipe or want something to cook I turn to pinterest. I have a cabinet full of cookbooks that I love, but it's just easier to hit the search feature on pinterest and find any and all things I'm wanting. So I decided to put together a list of different recipes that I would like to cook, if I were to have Thanksgiving at my house. (Which, again, I'm so glad I am not!)

Roasted Brussels Sprouts - I don't care for brussels sprouts but these look yummy. I love cranberries and balsamic so I bet these would be delish!

Cheesy Corn Casserole- Corn is not something that we had at Thanksgiving growing up. However, I find it totally underrated and this casserole looks amazing!

Sweet Potato Casserole - This is a Thanksgiving staple in our family. I love that the topping has marshmallows and a nut topping.

Perfect Turkey Gravy - I would have no idea how to make gravy so this would definitely be a recipe I turn to!

Best Thanksgiving Turkey
 - The thing that intimidates me most about cooking my own Thanksgiving is the turkey..it seems like so much pressure. Is it over cooked, under cooked, too dry? I get stressed just thinking about it!

Stuffing- The stuffing (or dressing as I've always called it!)  is one of my favorite foods at Thanksgiving.

Apple Pie - I know the traditional dessert at Thanksgiving is pumpkin pie, but I can't stand it. So I'm sharing an apple pie. Serve it warm with ice cream, yum!

These are just a few of the amazing recipes that you can find on pinterest. What are your Thanksgiving plans? Will you be cooking the whole meal at your house, taking a dish to family, or sharing a meal with friends? Do you have a favorite dish, I'd love to hear all about it!

  1. This is my 8th year hosting thanksgiving and it's so fun! I'm so excited to have it at our new house. I make sweet potato casserole and it's such a favorite.

  2. We have at least 3 (maybe 4) Thanksgivings to attend in 2 days, so by lunch on Thanksgiving, I'm hating food ha! My mom makes the best dressing and sweet potato casserole. I love making corn casserole and I do put shredded cheese on top of mine. I'm not a big turkey fan--I would rather just eat all of the sides!

  4. My mouth is watering! I've never had corn casserole, is it a southern thing? I might have to introduce it to my Philadelphia family this year!

  5. I have gotten super into roasting brussels sprouts in the oven, and I also used to be super against them. I do them with some bacon and balsamic, so I'm definitely trying this with the cranberries! Thanks for sharing!
