Scenes From Our Weekend- Beach Trip

Hey ya'll, happy Tuesday! I hope you had a great long weekend and an even better Memorial Day! I hope you spent some time with family and friends and also remembered the reason we celebrate the day! Get ready for some picture overload.

 We spent the weekend at the beach with my in-laws. We left Friday about lunch time, it's only about a 2.5 hour drive and for the most part the boys were great. We got there early afternoon and headed right to the beach. After playing at the beach the boys played in the baby pool and we hung out on the deck.

Saturday was a beautiful day. We were outside most of the day either at the beach or playing in the baby pool. Jack loved the ocean. He was fearless and wanted to jump in the waves and play, it made me nervous but Patrick and my father in law were right there so I knew he was in good hands. We all took a good afternoon nap before heading out for an early dinner.

We weren't sure what we were going to do on Sunday. There was a tropical storm headed our way so we were kind of just playing it by ear on if we would head home or not. We got up that morning to some rain. We decided to meet a friend of mine at the aquarium first thing. I thought for sure Jack would love it, wrong {yet again}. He was interested in it for all of 10 minutes and then wanted to "go home and see nana and granddaddy". {big sigh}

By the time we got back to our place the sun was coming out. It turned out to be a beautiful day, thank you for the weatherman being wrong for once! We spent the rest of the day outside.

Monday morning we were headed home at 8:15...thanks to some boys who don't know how to sleep in these days. We had some friends over for dinner Monday night and the kids played.

It was a great weekend and I'm so glad the weather held out and the tropical storm didn't ruin our weekend plans!

Friday Favorites

Friday we finally meet and what makes it even sweeter is that its a long weekend!  I have felt like it's been Friday since about Tuesday. Summer has officially started in my house, although nothings really changing since thankfully Jack is going to "camp" this summer. We thrive on a routine and I'm so glad we get the opportunity to stay in that routine this summer.

Here we go with my favorites from this week..

// On Tuesday Jacks class took a "field trip" to the rec center so that we could ride the train. It's the cutest little train that has been around since my husband was Jacks age. He had so much fun. It's open every Sunday afternoon through the fall and I foresee many trips in our future.

// There is a remote control air show going on at our tiny airport in town this week. On Wednesday after nap we headed over there to check it out. I've never seen an air show like this it was really cute and fun. Really hot, but fun! Graham enjoyed it so much he got himself a little snooze in.

// I have a black thumb when it comes to flowers. I love hydrangeas and when we were working on our outside landscaping all I wanted were lots of hydrangeas. For some reason they all died in our front bets but they are thriving in our back. We had several pots of them on our porch last summer and did nothing to them all winter. They sat on the sidewalk in our backyard un touched. I fully expected them to be deader than dead come this spring. Much to our surprise they have not only bloomed, but they are thriving! They are gorgeous and I love looking out to our porch and seeing them.

// Yesterday was Jacks last day of school. I cannot believe how much he has grown over these 9 months. We loved his teachers so much. I'm so thankful they loved my baby the way they did and luckily  {for us..maybe not them} we get to see them this summer at the pool!

// I picked up this bubble maker at Target the other day. It's so fun and produces a TON of bubbles without me having to spend forever waving that wand around. Graham loved watching them and Jack loved playing in them.

// I was in charge of Jack's end of year class party and had a local girl make some sugar cookies. I was going with a beach theme and she did not disappoint. They  turned out so cute, and I'm such a cookie snob and want my cookies to actually taste good. These were amazing!

// Lastly, this morning I looked over at the boys and saw this. It was so sweet. Jack turned to me and said "look, he's kissing me!"

// Ok one more..if you are in need of a cute pair of sandals this summer you've got to get these! They are so comfy and a great wedge style! Bonus, they are in the Nordstrom sale right now!

So lots of favorite things this week! I hope that you all have an awesome long weekend and do something fun to celebrate Memorial Day! Remember that it's not just about the pools opening, cook outs and fun. It's truly a time to remember and honor all of those that have served to keep us safe! Have a great weekend, friends!
