Fall Fun List Recap

I can't believe that tomorrow is December ONE! I feel like every month flies by, but this one truly did. Weren't we just celebrating our boys birthdays like yesterday. Before we start with all of the fun holiday activities I have planned I thought it'd be fun to look back on what I had hoped to do for the fall season!

After looking back at this list I definitely realized I totally failed at completing this list. I think we did about half of the things. We still had an awesome fall! The weather was crazy warm but we made the best of it and still enjoyed all things fall!

* Visit Hillridge Farm- We didn't visit this particular farm but we did go to one. We wanted to try a new one and realized that we like Hillridge better. It was still really fun!

* Fall festival- complete! We went on the hottest day and I forgot my stroller so I think we were there all of 10 minutes plus the hayride, Jack had fun and thats all that matters.

* Jump in a pile of leaves...Nope. Considering how warm it was the leaves have just begun to fall as of this past week or so. My backyard is finally covered but there was no leaf jumping. Maybe next year.

* Buy pumpkins and mums- Complete! Of course we did this. It wasn't hard and I wanted both on my front porch.

* Carve Pumpkins...Nope. Ugh, I had such high hopes of doing this but when it came down to it I didn't want to deal with the mess for Jack to be interested for 5 minutes. Next year for sure.

* Do a fun leaf project..Nope.

* Go on a nature scavenger hunt...Nope. Y'all, I'm realized I either am lazy or just have a terrible memory. I had the best intentions to do this. I even had a fun one printed out from another blogger friend and we still didn't do it.

* Watch a Mickey Halloween Movie..Complete! x 1000. Goodness, we have watched this movie over and over. In fact, just as I was working on this Jack said "Can we watch Mickeys Monster Musical". I'm about to delete it from the DVR because I am so sick of it!

* Trick or Treat- Complete! Of course we did this! Jack had so much fun!

* Make Smores..No! Read...too hot!

* Pictures in a cotton field- No, but we did have family pictures done! By the time I scheduled photos the cotton fields had already been picked. Adding this to my list for next year!

So there you have it. A little recap of our fall. What I am realizing is I am a big fat failure when it comes to this stuff. I just created our holiday bucket list and I really hope that we can accomplish most if not all of it. I think that we will!

Thanksgiving Weekend

Whew, Thanksgiving feels like it was forever ago! We had a great day spent with family. The fun continued into the weekend! It was so nice to have Patrick home for several days.

We started Thanksgiving off with some homemade cinnamon rolls (recipe to come soon!) and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade!

After Grahams morning nap we headed over to my in-laws for lunch. Patrick's brother joined us. We had such a yummy meal! I attempted to get a decent picture of the boys and I ended up with a million terrible ones. I guess that is the stage of life we are in, one won't sit still long enough and the other refuses to smile.

When we asked Jack what he was thankful for he said "Mommy, Daddy, Grahammy, and Roscoe" melt my heart...I couldn't love him more!

After lunch, we all hung out and took naps/decorated their Christmas tree. It was a great day! Jack didn't get a nap and at 7pm I walked into the playroom to find him passed out on the sofa, something that he never does!

Friday during nap time Patrick and I started to decorate the outside of the house. We put up the blowups (yes, we've become that family!) and added some lights and garland to the front steps. That night we went to our friends and celebrated Jacks little buddys 3rd birthday with pizza and cake.

Saturday we had planned on going to get our christmas tree but when grandaddy called and asked to take Jack to the farm we knew those plans were out the window! Jack was so excited to spend the day out there with his granddaddy, cousin, and uncle. They had the best time!

While Jack was off playing we took Graham to lowes and lunch!

My grandmother lives in the next town over from us and my mom is staying with her for a few days. My great uncle passed away on Thanksgiving at the age of 96! My mom is here helping my grandmother tie up lose ends and get everything set for the funeral on Tuesday. I hate that she is here under these circumstances but it did give us the chance to see her since we didn't go to Charlotte for Thanksgiving this year. She and my mimi came over for dinner Saturday night.

Again, Jack didn't get his nap on Saturday and we found him fast asleep on the sofa at 6;45. This definitely tells me he is not ready to give up that nap, and I'm perfectly ok with that!

Sunday was spent finishing up the decorating outside. If I make my husband put one more string of lights outside he may never talk to me again. {Does anyone else have a husband that doesn't love to decorate? I sure hope its not just mine!} After Graham woke up from nap we finally went and got our Christmas tree! Of course the only picture I got was of the back of everyones head...#bloggerfail

Jack and I decorated his little tree in his room after his nap and then we went to dinner with my in-laws and to look at some Christmas lights before coming home and putting the boys to bed!

I can't forget about this happy boy! He woke up full of smiles and giggles after nap.

It was a great long weekend!! I am so excite that the holiday season has officially kicked off. I have so many fun things planned in the coming days and weeks and I can't wait to share it all with ya'll! I hope that you had the best Thanksgiving and spent it with the ones you love most!

What's Up Wednesday

I am excited to do this link up today! I haven't done it in a few months and it's always one of my favorites!

1. What we're eating this week....
I made this easy taco soup Monday night. Tuesday we celebrated Friendsgiving and I made my first ham! It was so good! The rest of the week will consist of turkey, carbs, and more turkey...

2. What I'm reminiscing about....
Since both my boys were born 8 days apart my time hop and Facebook memories keep showing up pictures of them as newborns. It makes me miss the newborn snuggles so very much! Especially since Graham won't sit in my lap for longer than 30 seconds these days.

3. What I'm loving...
All the Christmas Decorations! Yes, I decorated before Thanksgiving and I adore walking in from my garage to see red, green, gold and glitter everywhere!

 4. What we've been up to...
A lot of decorating and a lot of playing at the park! I talked last week about how we have been trying to avoid the late afternoon meltdown by going to the park with friends!

5. What I'm dreading...
Same as always...potty training!! I'm like a broken record on this subject.

6. What I'm working on....
Trying to plan out all of our activities for the holiday season. I need to sit down and write it all out! Also, decorating..all the decorating!

7. What I'm excited about...
I am really looking forward to Thanksgiving day! We will be spending it with my In-laws and I know it'll be a fun filled day of family, football and fun!

8. What I'm watching...
This Is Us! I am sure along with every other blogger out there, this show is amazing. I find myself laughing and crying all within the same episode. If you have not seen it yet, I highly recommend!

9. What I'm listening to...
Christmas Music! Jack is really into it this year and requests "deck the halls" and "jingle bells" every time he gets in the car. And he actually sings the song. Its so cute! Pentatonix Christmas has been my jam!

10. What I'm wearing...
I have been living in my Old Navy rockstar jeggings and the Target turtleneck tunic. Also, its finally cold enough for Uggs! I will pretty much wear them from now until March!

11.What I'm doing this weekend...
We are going to get our Christmas tree this weekend! I'm sure I will spend a good portion of the weekend getting the lights put on and the ornaments hung. I am positive Jack will want to help decorate it which will take twice the amount of time, but will be so worth it!

12. What I'm looking forward to next month...
I am so looking forward to the holidays! I can't wait to see Christmas through Jacks eyes this year. He is so into it all and I really think it's going to be so fun! We will be having our Elf come visit for the first time and have some other fun activities planned!

and that's what's up with me! I would love to hear what you've been up to. Have a great day, Happy hump day friends!

Scenes From My Weekend + A Christmas Challenge!

Hey sweet friends! I hope you all had a great weekend. We had a relatively low key weekend. Friday we just hung out at home. We ordered pizza and Jack and I got in our soft clothes before 7 and baked cookies. He has discovered how good cookie dough tastes and kept saying "I'm just going to try one more!"

Saturday morning I decided to finally bring all the christmas decorations downstairs. (and by me, I mean Patrick). While Graham took his morning nap I got to decorating. It's been a slow process but it is all starting to come together. I hope to get our tree right after Thanksgiving!

Saturday afternoon Jack and I headed to his little friend Brady's 3rd birthday party. It was at the park and Jack was in heaven! He has really begun to love the slide! I think he did it over, and over, and over! I had to laugh because at one point he and his friend Hudson ran off. Normally this wouldn't bother us but the park was packed and I really didn't want to lose eye sight of him. Hudson dad said "I've got this!" and ran after them. Next thing I know I turn around and he has them walking back like this. We laughed and laughed!

Saturday night Patrick and I had our babysitter come and went out to dinner. We stat in the bar next to the fireplace and really had a great night. One of my favorite things about Patrick is that he indulges me in my obsession for taking pictures. So, when we walked into the parking lot and I saw the Christmas tree was still lit I asked if we could take a picture. Mind you it was freezing cold and super windy! He did it without a complaint.

One of the things I loved about Patrick when I met him was that he had a big family that he was close with. His dad is one of 5 siblings and they all get together for each holiday. Sunday we headed to one of his aunts house for and early Thanksgiving. There were 30 of us ranging in age from 93 (Patricks grandmama) to 1 (my sweet Grahammy). I caught this sweet moment between Jack and his Greatmama.

It was a great weekend!

Now onto a fun Christmas Challenge that my cute bloggy friend Ashley from Everythings Hunky Dorey is doing. I have been trying to think of a way to teach Jack and Graham the importance and meaning of the Christmas season and how it is more than just Santa Claus and presents. So when Ashley emailed me last week asking if I wanted to participate in her 25 acts of Christmas kindness Challenge I was totally on board!

Each day there is a prompt of something that we can do as a random act of kindness for someone else. They are all fairly simple and can help to brighten someones day. I hope to have Jack help me do these each day and to teach him how important it is to do for others. As Graham grows older I want to teach him this as well. I want my boys to grow up to be kind and thoughtful and realize that it feels so much better to do and give than to receive!

You do not have to be a blogger to participate! Simply share your act of kindness with a picture on instagram using the #25daysofkindnesss2016

I hope that you will participate in as many days as you can! This will be such a fun way to spread Christmas cheer and teach our sweet little ones the true meaning of Christmas!
