Friday morning the boys hung out with mimi and papa before heading to school. That afternoon my grandmother came over and we all had dinner together.
Saturday morning we met my in-laws for breakfast before my parents had to head back to Charlotte. Graham is in this terrible stage where he acts a fool at restaurants. He hates sitting in the high chair and he basically just screams the whole time. It's really enjoyable for all involved...when am I going to learn my lesson and refrain from going to restaurants, ha!
After my parents left we made a trip to our local garden center and to Lowes to get some flowers. Once home we attempted to work on planting them but it's quite impossible to do anything in our front yard with Graham because I was terrified if I turned my back he would run towards the street.
We came inside fed the boys lunch and put them down for naps. Saturday evening the boys got invited to spend the night with my in-laws so we had an impromptu date night! We went and got pizza and I was asleep on the sofa by 9...per the usual.
Sunday morning Patrick and I finished planting our flowers and then went to get the boys.
After playing outside some I made a trip to the grocery...and this is when our Sunday went down hill! I took both boys with me, which is usually never a problem, they like sitting in that dang car cart and besides the occasional scream from Graham its not bad. Well, something snapped in Jack and he proceeded to scream and cry through the entire store. I'm talking in hysterics!! It was so embarrassing, I was trying to keep my cool and make it through the store but about halfway through I decided to about my mission as I was carrying Jack, pushing this ginormous cart and listening to him scream in my ear. It was obvious who the parents were in the store as the non parents were giving me crazy stares and acting like I was causing him to scream... as we were loading up in the car another mama was loading her kids and was really sweet and told me we had to stick together, she could tell I was about to lose it and it was nice to know I wasn't the only one who had been in that situation!
The boys must have been worn out because they both slept for over 3 hours. After naps I took the boys to our church Easter egg hunt. Jack had a great time and Graham loved that Mrs. Daphne (preschool director) took him to the playground to swing during the event.
We finished the night off by watching the end of The Masters!
Despite the total meltdown from Jack it was a great weekend. The weather was gorgeous and I even got to sit and enjoy our screened in porch during nap time! Did you do anything fun?

So nice to have your parents visit, and then a surprise kid free night! Those shopping meltdowns totally happen to all of us. Glad you got some solid naps out of the deal!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, such cuteness. The pic of the lil Chevy with the flowers in the back...so sweet!!! Whew, last minute date night much needed for a recharge..Happy week ahead beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteWe are hoping to do some planting in the front of our "yard" i say yard because we live in a condo so it's sort of shared LOL, but those flowers look so great!! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteThat three hour nap sounds glorious, I bet you got a ton done during that time. So glad you saw another mama after the grocery incident. We are all in this together!
ReplyDeleteUgh girl, we have ALL been there with our crazy kiddos melting down. (I will admit that I giggled a little when you said Graham "acts a fool." Totally get it!) So glad you and Patrick got some time alone this weekend; what fabulous in-law's.
ReplyDeleteFamily visits are the best! Those matching Easter outfit! All the heart eyed emojis! Yay for alone time!
ReplyDeleteYay for date nights!! And a three hour nap?! I bet you got so much done during that time! Olivia used to take three hour naps and it was GLORIOUS!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the meltdown in the grocery store! That stinks. Glad to hear the rest of the weekend was awesome - love that you fell asleep early on Saturday. Totally something I would do.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry about the grocery meltdown! Glad you had a good weekend besides.
ReplyDeleteOh I know those meltdowns all too well. Avery had a meltdown right after we got the new car because it wasn't my car. She wanted in mommy's car. We were supposed to go to pizza with the girls, but we couldn't with how she was acting. Then she was crazy Saturday morning too but we still took them to brunch with Rory's cousins. Exhausting. Love the Easter egg hunt photos though. And impromptu date nights are the best.
ReplyDeleteHow adorable are their Masters Sunday outfits omg! Shew I can definitely imagine how you felt in the grocery store. I break into a sweat when Vivi starts fussing in public!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet and thoughtful mama to reach out with kind words in that moment. The mama's are always easy to spot because they give you looks that say, I know! Glad you had a great weekend, despite the meltdown.
ReplyDeleteI did some work outside this weekend and love the new flowers we have planted. Spring is here!!
ReplyDeleteGotta love date nights. But toddler tantrums not so much. Sorry about that. Thankfully the rest of the day got better. :)
