New Years Recap and Goals for 2017

Happy Happy 2017 friends! I hope you had the very best New Years Eve whether that was spent at home with your kiddos or out partying the night away! We had a really nice low key evening. Jack spent the night with my inlaws and after Graham went to bed Patrick and I headed to our friends house to watch the Clemson game and my babysitter hung out at our house. New Years day was spent at home hanging out. We enjoyed the traditional new years meal at our dear friends house!

I am so excited for the start of a new year! I hate making resolutions because seriously, who actually follows through with them past January? Not this girl! I started to make goals last year. In one of my first posts that I ever wrote I talked about a few of them! I am going to continue with setting goals for the new year ahead of us!

One | Organize more. This was on my list last year and I felt like I did a good job of it but definitely could continue to do better. I've already spent a few days last week throwing out and getting rid of! I did the cabinet in my kitchen and my linen closet. Next up is the closet that holds all of our holiday decor! Then the guest room upstairs, it becomes a total catch all and I need to just get it done. Along with organizing more, I want to stay organized with my day to day things. I just ordered a new planner and really hope to keep it up! I always go strong at first and then it fizzles out. not this year!

Two | Keep up with daily chores. I hate doing chores. I've never been good at "keeping house" It always seems like there is a little pile of stuff here, and there. So this year I am determined to do a little bit each day. I found a cleaning schedule that is broken up into daily tasks. Making my bed every day is at the top! Keeping up with laundry a close second. All easy things and if I do them daily will become second nature.

Three | My health of course this is on the list for everyone I'm sure. I have been going to a barre class that I love two days a week. Right now that is all that I can attend, I'm hoping maybe I can bump it up to 3 days and then add in some cardio on off days.

FOUR | The blog. I have high hopes for my little blog this year. My goal is to start working on my posts during nap time. Right now I've been doing them at night which has been fine, but I think if I can sit down for 30 minutes during nap time I will feel better about it. I also want to try and get ahead with my planning and writing posts not just the night before. I want to focus on growing my blog and taking better photos.

FIVE | Be Present.  I want to be more present with my family. friends. everything. So often I find myself worried about whats going on on my phone that I'm missing out on things.  I really want to put my phone down during the times my boys are home and playing. We could all use a little less technology in our family.

These are the top goals that I am setting for myself this year. I am determined to make this the best year yet for me and my little family!

What goals are you setting for yourself?

  1. Great goals! I definitely need to do better doing certain chores each day. I'm okay about it but then sometimes I slack and get behind. I need to be better about writing my posts ahead of time too--I do mine the night before like you!

  4. I love these goals! They are all great! And I do all of my posts the day before as well... I just can't seem to get on top of them enough to have some written out in advance!

  5. Love your goals. Getting organized is definitely one of mine! And I totally feel you about keeping up on daily chores. I can tell such a difference when I let things slide - it just stresses me out and then takes so much longer to pick up and clean when it's time!
