Scenes From Our Weekend

Hey Friends! I hope that you had a great weekend. Ours was busy and filled with an overnight trip to the zoo.

Friday morning I went to get Jack out of his crib and had to take a picture. Homeboy LOVES his pa and has probably 10 in his crib at one time. I know I need to get rid of them but he is only attached to them so it's going to be such a nightmare when we do give them up!

While I was at barre Friday morning my sweet sitter asked if she could take some pictures of Graham. I happily said YES! Y'all...she did amazing! My sweet ginger babe never looked so cute. If only he would have smiled. The boy smiles all day non stop yet as soon as she pulled out her camera she said he would not smile. I'm going to have her get some of Jack and then some of the boys together this week.

We had plans to go to the zoo on Saturday with Patricks parents and brother and his family. Originally we were leaving Saturday morning but after some thought we decided that we would leave Friday afternoon and spend the night so that we didn't have to get out the door with our boys so early that morning.

We have never stayed in a hotel with the boys before. Let me just say..we won't be doing it again any time soon. Neither boy would go to sleep and finally after Graham went to sleep at 9:00 { over 2 hours past his bedtime} we ended up sitting in the dark on our iPads. Jack was wide awake too, finally falling asleep at 10.

We met everyone at the zoo Saturday morning. It was a really fun time. The weather was hot, hot, hot but the company and animals were great. Jack loved seeing the different animals. He got to feed the giraffes. Graham was so good. He stayed in the stroller and was either napping or happy the whole time. By 1:00 Jack was beyond tired so we decided to head back to the hotel and do naps and meet everyone after for swimming and dinner.

This is where everything went south...neither boy would nap. They were both overly tired and needed to sleep. We made the decision to head back home instead of fighting naps and then having two fussy whiny boys all night long. It just goes to show what a blessing and a curse it is that my boys are so good with their routine and schedule. We were sad to leave Patrick's family but knew that it was the best thing. We got home and both boys were asleep early and slept really well.

Sunday we made a trip to Lowe's for some pots and plants. After nap I took the boys to the pool. We grilled burgers and I made this awesome squash and zucchini recipe. It was so easy and super yummy! Jack wanted to play outside after dinner. It has been so hot here the past few days, I guess summer is officially here and it's only going to get hotter.

Over all the weekend was great! We had fun at the zoo but Patrick and I both agree we won't be staying at a hotel with the boys until they are 10.

I've been thinking of some future posts that I want to write. I have expressed my hatred for washing my hair and my love for dry shampoo. There are so many different brands of dry shampoo out there these days that I was thinking of doing a review of several. Before I do this I wanted to see if that's something you'd be interested in reading. Please leave me a comment and let me know! I'd also love to know if there are any other topics you'd like to read about. I'm always down for talking about my kids but also want to keep the blog interesting and fun, I'm open to any suggestions!

Have a great Monday!

  1. Those pictures of graham are so great! His blue eyes are to die for. Bummer about the hotel room. That stinks but sounds like you guys had a great time otherwise. :) cheers for a good weekend.

  3. I love the photos of Graham. As for traveling with toddlers, it is hard. Especially in a hotel. Two weekends ago we had a two room hotel so that we could put the girls in the bedroom and the rest of us could hang out in the other room and it was still hard. They can hear us talking and wake up. Plus they were sick too. I would suggest bringing a lovie or something they like for their cribs too. And just know that the schedules are thrown off.

I would love to hear more about dry shampoo. I have used mine a few times and I am liking it too.

  4. Your boys are so adorable! I am glad that you all had a good time at the zoo! Traveling with little ones can be so difficult, especially if they are tired or cranky. The first time we stayed in a hotel with our son was definitely interesting! He had a bed to himself (he was three) and was totally wired. We could not get him to relax and sleep for hours!

I would definitely be interested in hearing reviews on the dry shampoo! I have wanted to purchase some but never knew which to buy.

  5. The only time we've stayed in a hotel with the kids is when we can get a suite/side room for them to stay in. Otherwise, they don't sleep and when they finally do, we're stuck in the dark, whispering and tiptoeing around. It's so hard!!

  6. I can only remember one time that we stayed in a hotel with Wyatt. He was about 7 months old and I'm pretty sure that's why we've never done it again. It's so hard! Glad y'all were able to still have some fun with family at the zoo though!
